Wonders of the World Nominee: Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a monument in England comprised of large standing stones arranged in a circular pattern. Some pairs of standing stones have a large stone on top of them to form a reverse U-shape as you can see in the picture on the right. Stonehenge was believed to have been erected in several phases sometime between 3000-2200 BC. No one knows exactly what Stonehenge was used for, but recent evidence suggests it may have been a burial site.
