The Karnak temple complex is an ancient Eqyptian temple complex located in Luxor, Egypt. What makes the Karnak temple unique is the emormous size and the large number of free standing megolithic columns in Hypostyle Hall. The temple was built and expanded with new buildings over the course of 1600 years, all the way up until around 0 AD, with all the Pharoahs along the way adding their own unique influence and designs to the temple complex. The Karnak temple complex was primarily used as a place of worship by ancient Egyptians. Today, the Karnak temple complex is a museum. |
