Wonders of the World Nominee: The Forbidden City

The Forbidden City was the palace grounds for the emperor of China. It was built in the early 15th century and used during the Ming to the Qing dynasties. It is the world's largest palace grounds covering over 180 acres. The Forbidden city was the official residence of the Emperor of China up until 1924. Located in Bejing, China, the Forbidden City has since been converted into a museum.
