Easter Island is famous for its statues created by the Rapanui tribe. It is a small island located in the south Pacific Ocean and a territory of Chile. The exact settlement date of the island is unknown, but is believed to have been sometime between 300 and 700 AD. There are over 800 statues on Easter Island, some weighing as much as 80 tons. Since it is a volcanic island, all of the statues are carved out of volcanic rock so hence they have a dark appearance. |
