Alhambra is a Moorish citadel near the city of Granada, Spain. Built in the mid 14th Century, Alhambra was also the palatial residence of the Moorish ruler. It is one of the most beautiful examples of Islamic architecture in the world. Alhambra, which literally means "the red fortress," was made out of the red clay that surrounds the plateaued area in which is was built upon. |
