Teotihuacan

Be aware that going to Teotihuacan will likely require a lot of walking and climbing, so be sure to be in good physical shape before you go. It will likely be very hot so also be sure to carry a lot of water with you. A sunny day can quickly turn into a rainy day so you should also plan according for this. Currently the entrance fee into Teotihuacan is only 51 Pesos ($4 USD). Once you arrive at the site, we recommend you walk down the Avenue of the Dead and look through the various temples along the way. Many of these temples have great wall murals, sculptures, and paintings. At the end of the Avenue of the Dead you will reach the Pyramid of the Moon. Climb up the Pyramid and take a little break as this is a great vantage point take in the site and snap some photographs of the site and view the surrounding mountains.

The Pyramids at Teotihuacan

The pyramids of Teotihuacan are the stars of the site and attract most of the people. The view from each pyramid is unique, so after descending from the Pyramid of the Moon, head over to the Pyramid of the Sun. If you thought the climb to the top of the Pyramid of the Moon was extremely tough, it may be best not to attempt to climb the Pyramid of the Sun as it is significantly taller. If you choose to climb this pyramid, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of Teotihuacan. Don't be afraid to take breaks as you ascend up the pyramid. The Pyramid of the Sun is more centrally located within Teotihuacan so all areas should be clearly visible with the Avenue of the Dead and the Pyramid of the Moon on one side, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl on the other side.

Other Structures Around the Site

Teotihuacan is more than just a couple pyramids, be sure to check out the Temple of Quetzalcoatl after exploring the two pyramids. This temple is famous for its ornate stone dragon heads that protrude from the structure. If you have time, pay for a ride around the perimeter of the site. There are several interesting structures that you will come across that you would otherwise miss if you stayed within the confines of Teotihuacan. The Museum at the site is a nice place to go to grab some food during lunch time. There is a nice little restaurant and gift shop inside the Museum.
