Getting to the Colosseum

Getting to the Colosseum is easy and does not take an experienced traveler. Hundreds of flights from all over the world fly into Rome's Fiumicino Airport. From the airport, it is about a half hour train ride to get Rome's main train station: Termini station in the center of the city. Or if you are coming via a cruise ship; from the Civitavecchia Cruise Terminal, it is about an hour train ride to Termini Station. Taxis are also available from both locations, but the train is the cheaper and more recommended way of travel in Italy. From Termini Station, you can take the blue Line B Metro (the subway) from Termini Station up two stops to the Colosseo exit and it will drop you off literally right in front of the Colosseum. If you want to walk it, it is about a 20-30 minute walk from Termini Station. Since you will probably have luggage, it is recommended that you check into your hotel first before attempting to visit any of the sites around Rome.
